Reporting to the Regional Vice President, Group Customer, this position involves managing an assigned block of Group Insurance clients and territory composed mainly of larger accounts. The position also involves promoting and managing positive relationships with clients and consultants and requires a high degree of selling – whether it’s new business opportunities, renewals, new products or services.  This position works fairly independently requiring strong self-direction and initiative and is closely supported by the office’s field management.

The position is also responsible for achieving and/or surpassing objectives set by group field management by balancing new sales, profitability, persistency and renewal pricing involving a high level of decision-making, resourcefulness, and creativity within a context of shared responsibility with field management. We designed our compensation program to reward you for building your region's business. It includes a base salary, productivity-based bonuses and benefit options, a company-matching RPP and a share ownership plan.

    • Manage assigned accounts, including annual renewals and financial reports; judgment is essential in weighing corporate profit and persistency objectives. Review, interpret claims reports, maintain client relations through regular, proactive visits with senior management and manage client expectations
    • As advisors are the definitive source of group business for Great-West, this position must exercise good judgment, creativity and resourcefulness as required to develop and maintain these relationships. Regular meetings and proactively establishing contact with new advisors is essential.
    • Working through advisors, prepare all aspects of Request for Proposal (RFP) for large Refund/ASO accounts including: present proposal to advisor, lead the preparation for and presentation at a finalist meeting with the prospect and advisor, negotiate with head office and claims offices on administrative, contractual and/or product design innovations, often where they are non-standard or require special handling, occasionally with assistance from field management where the innovations are somewhat non-standard.
    • Promote new group products and services to clients and advisors

    • Post-secondary education with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
    • A confident, independent individual who enjoys a variety of tasks and interactions that are dynamic and changing.
    • Extensive knowledge and experience in group products and services. A high degree of commitment and professionalism is expected. The attainment of professional industry-related designations such as CEBS will be considered a positive.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication
    • Strong interpersonal skills including an ability to overcome objections diplomatically and influence the opinions of others
    • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
