  • Job Description

    The Switchboard Operator is responsible for directing all incoming client calls to the appropriate business departments within London Life, Great-West Life and Canada Life.  This requires an understanding of the different business functions performed by all of the companies, the different business units and an awareness of the various contact names and numbers for each area.   

     

    Accountabilities: 

    • Respond to inquiries from London Life, Great-West Life and Canada Life customers;
    • Ask probing/clarifying questions of callers to determine what department to direct them to;
    • Direction of calls to the appropriate Company/Business area in an efficient and accurate manner;
    • Ongoing maintenance of internal contact listing (involves soliciting updates to contact lists from Business Leaders);
    • Sharing of contact information with internal departments;
    • Participate in process improvement opportunities;
    • Maintain timely awareness of Company initiatives, business cycles and changes to the environment;
    • Flexible to work shifts during hours of operation. Current hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET.

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French are required, ;
    • Excellent communication, telephone etiquette and customer service skills are required;
    • Previous experience transferring calls through a multi-line phone system is an asset;
    • Solid knowledge and demonstrated experience in a reception environment is an asset;
    • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required along with the ability to adapt well to new technology;
    • Good problem solving skills;
    • Able to make decisions quickly;
    • Adaptive to change and able to manage stress;
    • Team player.
