  • Job Description

    The Financial Analyst is a key supporting member of the sales team. They are responsible for analyzing data, identifying plan design and making basic pricing decisions to assist in driving new sales and renewing existing employee benefit plans. Post-secondary education, preferably in commerce, finance, business administration of a related field; or equivalent work experience is essential. 



    • Determine price to quote using experience-rating of benefits and provide recommendations on pricing to account managers
    • Review quote requests and evaluate risk and eligiblity
    • Prepared rate summary spreadsheets for analysis by account managers
    • Prepare and package quotes: review with account manager for delivery to client or advisor
    • Prepare quotes including experience-rating
    • Prepare documentation including any proposal or letter detailing benefits and applicable rates; review with account manager for delivery to client and/or advisor
    • Independently perform detailed review of renewal action propsoed by Head Office ensuring accuracy and where issues arise, review with head office.
    • Determine rate action to be proposed within broad parameters of Underwriting policy
    • Identify potential plan design alternatives including pricing for them
    • Assist account managers in managing financial elements of accounts
    • Assist account managers in advisor communications including AOR issues, incentive compensation programs - ensuring through data analysis that details on what each advisor is eligble for is accurate.
    • Track management reporting requirements for the region ensuring the information compiled can be analuzed by management to ensure that regional objectives for Non-Refund sales, execution and persistency are achieved and are consistent with with head office reported results, and if not, seek correction or explanations for variances
    • Expert knowledge of Salesforce to produce custom reports
    • Understand and analyze financial data and create custom spreadsheets and reports.

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • Post-secondary education preferably in commerce, finance, business administration of a related field.
    • Completion of High School plus expectation of completing the Group Benefits Associate designation of the CEBS progam within 3 years of assuming the position
    • Three years exn insuranceperience in group insurance
    • Insurance experience an asset
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Salesforce
    • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle time sensitive work
    • Strong data analysis skills and expert knowledge of proprietary quoting and renewal sysems
    • Strong math and arithmetic skills
    • Strong team player
    • Ability to seek out effective solutions and methods to meet customer needs
    • Strong product and financial accounting knowledge of Non-Refund accounts 
    • Abiltiy to develop market analysis to link client needs with plan/pricing solutions
