Great-West Life has an exciting leadership opportunity heading up our Canadian Litigation Group. This position will be based in either Winnipeg, Manitoba, London, Ontario, or Toronto, Ontario and will involve travel across Canada (primarily between Winnipeg, London, Toronto and Montreal).
Reporting to the Vice-President & Associate General Counsel, Canadian Operations, this role will have overall responsibility for the Company’s litigation operations across Canada. Great-West Life, and its operating subsidiaries, including London Life and Canada Life, have a team of litigation lawyers, law clerks, and legal assistants located in Winnipeg, London, and Montreal who handle the majority of the companies’ litigation internally.
This role will oversee the litigation team and in addition will act as Litigation Counsel to the companies, with primary responsibility for managing significant, complex litigation and providing general legal advice to management on various issues, including effective litigation management, employment law, product support, risk mitigation, reputational and media issues, and financial reporting matters. Working with a highly accomplished team of legal professionals, your work will be wide-ranging and will provide the opportunity to develop expertise in dynamic practice areas. You will have responsibility for a broad portfolio of legal matters and interact with and provide advice to senior management on a regular basis.
