    Reporting to the Manager, Project Delivery, the Senior Project Manager is part of the Corporate Technology Delivery team and plays a lead role in the delivery of Global and Canada-only projects and programs. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, leading, and controlling the implementation of large scale and/or highly complex projects using standard project delivery practices. The Senior Project Manager provides PM expertise on business and technology initiatives, collaborating with multiple stakeholders and solution providers to drive business results.

     

    Accountabilities:

     

    The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading projects from original concept through to final implementation.  The Project Manager works closely and effectively with various IT and business leaders, championing the development of strong project plans while leading cross-functional multi-disciplined resources through the execution of the plans to deliver projects that meet or exceed expectations (on time, on budget and quality of scope).

    Works closely with project sponsors, business partners and delivery leadership to develop the project charter, including defining the scope, goals, objectives, approach, methodology and communication plan

    • Develops delivery schedule, cost estimates, budget, resources required (people, equipment, materials)
    • Performs risk planning and analysis (qualitative & quantitative), including risk identification and risk response planning
    • Executes, tracks and monitors progress to plan and distributes the appropriate project information to all relevant project team members
    • Identifies, resolves or escalates all project issues
    • Contributes to the development and enhancement of PM best practices, tools and techniques
    • Manage all aspects of the program or project over the entire life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close)

    Qualifications and Competencies: 

    • Degree in related discipline (Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, etc) or equivalent combination of training and experience
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience is required
    • Solid hands-on experience in project management: scope, budget, schedule, risk, quality
    • Ability to resolve conflicting priorities in the delivery of a program; resolve resource issues; and manage project scope to meet expectations
    • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and provide excellent leaderships skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience
    • Proven track record on leading and delivering increasingly complex projects
    • Demonstrated understanding of risk assessment and management techniques
    • Understanding of industry best practices: e.g. project planning and estimation,  software development life cycle (SDLC), business
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Effective planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure

    Desirable

    • Experience with corporate systems and business/transformation initiatives

    • Working knowledge of current SAP Project Management methodologies including the SAP Activate methodology (AGILE)

    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent credentials

    • Experience with IT Delivery Methodologies
