  • Job Description

    The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for the coordination and preparation of consolidated reporting for the Lifeco Controller’s Division in an accurate and timely manner.  This includes supporting the preparation of regulatory reporting (including OSFI reporting), budgeting and expenses analysis, data analytics, internal management reporting and the Management Discussion & Analysis.

     

    Accountabilities:

    • Compile and analyze a wide variety of financial reports to support consolidated regulatory and compliance reports, the Management Discussion and Analysis, and other published information.
    • Assist with preparation of Lifeco Global Services budget and ongoing analysis of actual to budget variances.
    • Compile and analyze reports for Senior Management and Board Reporting.
    • Review and analyze accounting and regulatory policies as well as disclosure requirements.
    • Assist with quarterly general ledger closing processes.
    • Identify, make recommendations and implement policy/procedure improvements as appropriate.
    • Assist with the implementation of new technology and data analytics tools.
    • Participate in special/ad hoc projects, as required. 

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • University degree, either in commerce or finance, majoring in accounting, with a professional accounting designation – CGA, CMA or CA.
    • 2-3 years of experience in a related accounting job function.
    • Conversant with International Financial Reporting Standards.
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities while managing deadlines.
    • Superior communication skills (both written and oral).
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and advanced Excel functions including pivot tables.
    • SAP experience would be considered an asset.
