    Reporting to the Team Manager, the Case Manager processes claims following an absence from work. As a first step, he must assess eligibility for benefits, thereby enabling it to provide an income replacement to the applicant. He must then work with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that the applicant receives the appropriate care and support for his condition, in order to enable him to return to work safely in right time.

     

    Main Responsibilities: 

    • Evaluate new claims received to establish eligibility for benefits in accordance with contractual provisions;
    • Evaluate the extent of the disability by interviewing or writing to the applicant, the employer, physicians and other medical service providers, and manage the disability file by continuously evaluating all additional medical information;
    • Write letters to inform all affected parties of decisions regarding disability cases;
    • Implement return-to-work programs of less than six weeks and negotiate with the employer;
    • Evaluate health care coordination programs and rehabilitation programs to ensure they have positive effects;
    • Respond to all telephone inquiries made by the applicant, physicians, lawyers, regarding the assessment of the claims.

    Required skills and abilities: 

    • Holds a bachelor's degree or college diploma in an appropriate discipline combined with relevant professional experience;
    • Very good planning and organizational skills;
    • Analytical and demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions;
    • Strong communication skills and strong interest in customer service and interaction with policyholders;
    • Demonstrated ability and flexibility to work in a multidisciplinary and multifunctional environment;
    • Great ability and ease to work with ambiguity;
    • Ability to work with multiple timelines and priorities;
    • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written;
    • Ability to transcribe information to the computer while communicating with the insured, employers, etc.;
    • Knowledge of the medical field (asset)
