    Great-West Life is currently looking for an Associate Manager, Financial Reporting to join our Global IFRS 17 (Insurance Contracts) accounting team.     The Associate Manager, Financial Reporting will help manage and review of the global IFRS 17 processes and controls with a focus on data and technology including our end to end Global financial systems.  The Associate Manager will play a key role in the development of an Insurance Contracts subledger and financial reporting database addressing IFRS 17 and other reporting and analytical requirements.



    • Collaborate with Global teams in Europe, USA and Canada to optimize data conversion and integration projects for IFRS 17 while identifying other opportunities to utilize data for other business and reporting needs
    • Partner with internal global teams to insure role-based security including business role design, segregation of duties and monitoring of ICOFR for the IFRS 17 accounting systems
    • Manage accounting data interfaces including liaison with business system owners to monitor daily controls and collaboration with development teams to maintain or add source systems and transition interfaces as it relates the implementation of IFRS 17 changes and other analytical requirements.
    • Develop the Master Data Governance for IFRS 17 including the development of subledger account structure and changes to the existing Chart of Accounts including:  profit centres, line of business reporting, global consolidation sets and related hierarchies
    • Assist with the development of reporting in a new reporting environment

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • Post-secondary degree in Business/Finance, candidates with a professional accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountant) will be given preference.
    • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
    • Experience with financial reporting solutions
    • Strong knowledge of data and related analytical skills
    • Experience working with accounting system requirements, preference will be given to those with experience in SAP financial modules.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate issues and concerns to leaders in a timely and professional manner
    • Experience fostering a strong team environment and providing leadership and coaching to employees
    • Strong attention to detail in assessing financial information
    • Willing and eager to adapt to changes and stay ahead of the curve
    • Ability to work with multiple priorities, tight deadlines and coordination across teams
    • Knowledge and efficient use of MS Office suite such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
